The 28th ITU’s global event "ITU Telecom World 2016" took its place from 14-17 November in Bangkok, Thailand. ITU Telecom World 2016 combines an exhibition for digital solutions, the Ministerial Roundtable, Leadership Summit, focusing on ICT, and a Forum. This year the event brought together more than 8 800 participants, among them 338 ICT leaders from all over the world.

During the Forum the participants discussed actual issues on creating and development of digital economy and its impact on economic and social development. They also analyzed the global experience in successful public-private partnership in the ICT field and discussed new international collaboration perspectives for telecommunication operators, providers, investors and end-users of telecommunications equipment and ICT services.

The direct participation of the world leaders in the field of ICT opened the discussion of the topics concerning the future of 5G networks, digital financial services, intelligent transport systems and the role of ICT in meeting the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.

Popkov S.P., the Minister of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus, represented our country during the event. He took part in the Ministerial Roundtable, which was held under the theme “The role of the government in digital economy growth” on November 15.

“ITU Telecom World 2016” also hosted a major international exhibition, where the latest ICT innovations including “Smart city” and “Smart home” were presented.
